5. International transfers
We are a US business and your information will be processed in the United States. If you are in the United Kingdom, European Union, or another jurisdiction with strict data-export rules, your information may be transferred outside that jurisdiction. Where required, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards.
6. Cookies and tracking
We use cookies and similar technologies to operate the Site, remember your preferences, analyse usage, and deliver advertising. Categories:
- Strictly necessary — checkout, login, fraud prevention. Cannot be turned off.
- Functional — remembering preferences and currency.
- Analytics — Microsoft Clarity, Google Analytics, Omnisend on-site tracking.
- Marketing — Meta Pixel, Google Ads tag, Omnisend email-engagement pixels.
Where required by law (e.g. UK/EU GDPR, ePrivacy), we ask for consent before placing non-essential cookies. You can change your preferences at any time using the cookie banner or your browser settings. Disabling cookies may limit Site functionality.
We do not currently respond to "Do Not Track" browser signals because no industry standard for them yet exists, but we honour Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals where required by law.
7. Data retention
- Order records — kept for up to 7 years to meet tax, accounting, and consumer-protection requirements.
- Customer-service correspondence — kept for up to 3 years.
- Marketing data — kept until you unsubscribe, plus a short suppression record so we don't email you again.
- Analytics data — retained per platform defaults (typically 14 months for Google Analytics; 13 months for Microsoft Clarity).
You can ask us to delete your data sooner — see Section 8.
8. Your rights
For everyone — you can ask us to:
- Confirm what personal information we hold about you and provide a copy
- Correct information that is wrong or incomplete
- Delete your information (subject to legal retention requirements)
- Stop sending you marketing (use the unsubscribe link or email us)
If you are in California (CCPA / CPRA): you also have the right to know what categories of personal information we collect, the right to limit use of "sensitive personal information", the right to opt out of "sale" or "sharing" of your data for cross-context behavioural advertising, and the right to non-discrimination for exercising these rights. To opt out of advertising-related sharing, click the cookie banner's "Reject" option or email us at hello@nzcountry.com with the subject line "California Opt-Out".
If you are in Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, or other US states with consumer-privacy laws: you have rights similar to the California rights above; we honour them on the same basis.
If you are in the United Kingdom or European Union (UK GDPR / EU GDPR): you also have the right to data portability, the right to object to processing, the right to restrict processing, and the right to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk).
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@nzcountry.com. We will verify your identity and respond within the time limits required by law (typically 30–45 days).
9. Opting out of advertising
You can opt out of personalised advertising at any time:
- Meta (Facebook / Instagram): facebook.com/settings/?tab=ads
- Google: adssettings.google.com
- Industry-wide US opt-outs: optout.aboutads.info (DAA) and networkadvertising.org/choices (NAI)
- UK/EU: youronlinechoices.eu
10. Security
We use commercially reasonable safeguards — encryption in transit (TLS), restricted access controls, vetted sub-processors, and PCI-compliant payment handling — to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security; if a breach affecting your data occurs, we will notify you as required by law.
11. Children
The Site is intended for general audiences. Our products are gentle skincare and food-grade honey suitable for most people, but we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact hello@nzcountry.com and we will delete it.
12. Third-party links
The Site may link to third-party websites (e.g. Amazon storefront, supplier pages). Their privacy practices are their own — we are not responsible for what they do with your information once you leave the Site.
