The live green leaves and twigs of the tree are selected and hand-cut from naturally growing sustainable stands in the hills of the East Cape Region of the Northern Island of New Zealand. The fresh bales of harvest are transported to a distilling plant. Note that a botanical survey report prepared for the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of New Zealand found our Manuka Oil, particularly the triketone rich chemotype, ONLY occurs in a small region in the East Cape of New Zealand where we harvest. We select this variety for its unique properties.

Extraction of the oil is carefully done by low-temperature steam distillation to preserve freshness of the oil. Heat for the steam is generated by boilers fueled by wood pellets (a by-product of the local forestry industry). The plant material is compressed and lowered into large vats which are steamed with local spring water. The steam evaporates into a cooler as a mixture of water and oil with the oil separating out on top and extracted. No chemicals are ever used as part of the process. This is natural distillation that has been done the same way for thousands of years.

Our supplier’s laboratory tests each batch of the oil so it conforms to the highest quality standards. Carefully bottled in amber colored glass bottles to reduce light acting on the oil to oxidize and degrade its qualities, and sent to you through Amazon. Our manufacturer suggests  it has a shelf life of 4 years.

Our products bypass the usual retail supply chain and are directly available to anyone via Amazon.com. Their delivery systems are extremely efficient and inexpensive so we decided to go this route and pass the savings on to you.

The 100% Pure Essential Oil is great. It is a natural antiseptic which can be used for acne, or even on cuts and wounds for faster healing. I am so bad at cutting myself without knowing how I did it. I also have a kitten which is by far the worst cat I have EVER had for biting, so I am always left with cuts and scrapes from him. Since using it, I am finding that these scratches have been healing so much faster than before, and with less scarring. Only a tiny bit is needed, and it immediately takes away the stinging and itching. Unlike tea tree oils, Manuka Oil is usually a non-irritant and can even be used on sensitive skin. It is also more potent than tea tree oils. It contains more than 10 times the anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties of tea tree oils.
